The company
Headquartered in London, with its UK development team based in our Manchester office and Glasgow, Cubico Sustainable Investments is one of the world’s largest privately-owned renewable energy companies and has a growing footprint in the UK where it owns and operates more than 250 MW of onshore wind and solar assets, plus 47.5 MW of BESS under construction and a development pipeline of circa 2 GW.
With plans to invest approximately £300 million in new projects across a range of green technologies, Cubico is committed to helping deliver reliable, homegrown and affordable energy for British homes and businesses. The company takes a long-term approach to partnerships with stakeholders, working closely with local communities to deliver projects that bring both economic and environmental benefits and create lasting value for the people who live and work near its projects.
Cubico’s global portfolio spans nine countries and four continents with a installed gross capacity of more than 3 GW, 450 MW in construction and a 17+ GW total development pipeline.
The team
James Pinney
Head of UK and Northern Europe
James joined Cubico in 2016 and leads our Northern Europe business, overseeing the full lifecycle of onshore wind, solar PV, and BESS projects. With over 15 years of sector experience, he has a strong track record of driving asset performance and delivering growth through greenfield development and M&A.
Previously, he served as Head of Investment Oversight at Cubico, working closely with local teams and senior stakeholders to evaluate, approve, and execute global transactions.
Joe Chambers
Senior Development Manager
Joe leads our UK solar and battery development portfolio. He has over 10 years’ experience in renewable energy across consultancy and development roles as well as a master’s degree in the subject and has a detailed knowledge of decentralised and flexible generation project development involving wind, solar and storage technologies.
Rachel Hodges
Senior Grid and Regulatory Manager
Rachel leads Cubico’s grid connection strategy, supporting the identification, origination and development of solar and onshore wind projects through to delivery. She also monitors and interprets policy and regulatory developments, ensuring their impacts are clearly understood and effectively communicated across the business.
Frankie Karki
Head of Origination, UK
Frankie leads our UK wind development portfolio. She has over 20 years of renewables experience, developing projects across the UK and managing operational sites. Frankie specialises in ensuring the deliverability of projects, working with our technical teams to optimise wind development sites.
Natalie Righetti
Senior Land & Development Manager
Natalie has 15+ years of development, planning consultancy and land acquisition experience in the renewables, residential and commercial property sectors across the UK. She leads the land team in our UK development business and is based in Glasgow.
